Who is responsible

vaka is made by an independent developer based in Sweden, who is the data controller for the little data this website touches. Questions or requests are welcome at the email address at the bottom of this page.

The vaka app: nothing is collected

The iPhone and Apple Watch apps collect no data whatsoever. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no networking code in the app — it cannot send data anywhere even if it wanted to. Your battery level and chosen alert threshold live on your devices and stay there.

This website: anonymous visit statistics

This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand whether the page does its job — roughly how many people visit, where they come from, and whether they tap the App Store button. It is cookieless and anonymous by design:

• No cookies and no cross-site tracking. Visitors are counted via a temporary hash that cannot be traced back to you and is discarded within 24 hours.
• Your IP address is processed briefly to derive that hash and a country-level location, then discarded — it is never stored.
• What we see: page views, referrer, country, device type, browser, and clicks on the App Store button. Never who you are.

The legal basis for this is legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)): measuring, in the least invasive way available, whether our own landing page works. Because no cookies or similar identifiers are stored on your device, no consent banner is required.

Your preferences on this site

If you pick a language, we store that choice in a cookie (vaka-locale) so the site remembers it. It is strictly functional, stays in your browser, is never used for tracking, and is exempt from consent requirements.

Who else sees data

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., which processes the analytics described above on our behalf as a data processor. We do not sell, rent, or share any data with anyone else. There are no advertising or social-media trackers on this site.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, and object to processing of your personal data, and to complain to your supervisory authority (in Sweden: Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY). In practice we hold no data that can identify you, so there is usually nothing to look up — but you are always welcome to ask.

Changes

If this policy changes — for example if we ever add a different analytics tool — we will update this page and the date at the top.
